On 17th April we had the second episode of Meet the Company Event. This time it was Evelien Hak from Capgemini who presented about the Circle Solution, which is one of the many sustainability initiatives undertaken by the company. She talked about how artificial intelligence, image recognition to be specific can be used to recognize, sort and classify clothing. This intelligence has been built into an automated scanning system which is developed by Capgemini in partnership with Intel, HP and EON. With this technology, Capgemini has helped the Salvation Army in the Netherlands to sell recycled clothes at an appropriate price. This will in turn increase the average life of clothing considerably and less clothing has to be thrown away unnecessarily. Every kg of cloth being reused saves 3.4 kg of CO2 thereby contributing to a cleaner environment!
This event was attended by 20 young professionals from different ICA companies. There was also time for short Q&A after the lunch lecture!
